When should I take my baby for well visits and vaccinations?

Typical well-visit schedule

Well visits are scheduled frequently in the first year to monitor growth, development, and administer recommended vaccinations. Common early visit times include newborn (3–5 days), 1 month, 2 months, 4 months, 6 months, 9 months, and 12 months, with additional visits as needed.

What happens at visits:

  • Measurement of weight, length, and head circumference.
  • Developmental screening and feeding/sleep guidance.
  • Vaccinations per the recommended immunization schedule.

Why timely vaccinations matter

Vaccinations protect infants from serious diseases during a vulnerable period. Your pediatrician will provide the standard schedule and discuss any special considerations. If you miss an appointment, catch-up schedules are available to safely complete vaccinations.

Keep a copy of the immunization record and bring questions to each visit. If your baby has a fever or acute illness, check with the clinic about whether to reschedule routine injections.
